Forensic Psychology Programs

Forensic Psychology programs deal with those issues that concern the psychologist.

  • Prisons or the correctional institutes
  • The psychologists that render their services in the special hospitals
  • Educational purposes
  • Academics

All of these different groups can be linked to Forensic Psychology programs. One of the best definitions given for Forensic Psychology is “That branch of applied psychology which is concerned with the collection, examination and presentation of evidence for judicial purposes” (Haward 1981).

There are some Forensic Psychology programs which are available and students can take advantage of these Forensic Psychology programs for furthering their careers or sharpening their skills. The various Forensic Psychology programs that are currently provided include ‘The Bachelors of Arts in Forensic Behavioral Studies’ which is one of the Forensic Psychology programs which includes courses in psychology, sociology, criminology and law. Students can choose from al these courses. As the students develop their skills, the faculty encourages them to specialize in a particular study set that will suit them the most. This is a 4 year program just like any other bachelor program and students can benefit immensely from this program.

Ph.D. in Forensic Psychology is also a part of the Forensic Psychology programs that students can also study after completing their bachelors degree. These Forensic Psychology programs last for a period of 5 years and they are currently offered at Fresno campus only. They include Clinical Licensure and also consist of scholar research based on a program that deals with subjects such as psychology, policy and law. These Forensic Psychology programs help students understand the importance that the changing face of psychology has and how it facilitates the law making procedure and the decisions that include psychological interpretation and guidelines when it comes to certain crimes.

Psy. D. Forensic Psychology programs are taught to students and enable them to understand the link between mental health principles and the scientific techniques . Students are told how to use the program in order to work in individual and group settings. They are trained to work with a number of clients who are placed in a number of correctional homes such as prisons, juvenile halls and people on probation and parole, group homes and other setups that will require their expert handling.
